Can a Good Hair Day Improve Your Mood?

It goes without saying that we have all had our own experiences with bad hair days vs. good hair days. We might be able to brush off a few bad days here and there, but what if your hair just doesn’t seem the same and is just getting worse? How do you feel then?

For example, when I was a pre-teen, I remember coming home and feeling so embarrassed and frustrated with the fact that my hair was disheveled at the end of the day. But now, I know one bad hair day won’t kill me, but I also know that a few bad hair days in a row does take me down a notch.

Did you know that there is EVIDENCE that having good hair improves your self-esteem?

In a Yale study conducted almost 20 years ago, it was clear: good hair improves self-esteem. Men, women, everyone in between, see hair as a way to express themselves, their goals, their personalities, and how they want to fit into the world.

How does a bad hair day make you feel?

Less sociable.

More embarrassed.

Less smart.

Those were the three things people reported feeling when they had a bad hair day. In fact, many men and women reported that they felt much more inferior to their coworkers on a bad hair day, and much more on top of their game on a good hair day.

Part of the reason why many salons offer free cuts for veteran’s and the homeless isn’t just because of hygiene or “look” it’s because it gives people a fresh new feeling of confidence and self-gratification.

Okay, so maybe you cannot relate to all of these. But think about it- when you are choosing a hairstyle, or choosing not to spend time on your hair, do you think about what you are hoping others will know about you? I’ve grown out my hair, cut it very short, dyed it almost black, dyed it almost platinum; at the end of the day, it’s always about what I am thinking others will see in me. Will they see someone who is serious about her goals and life? Will they see someone who is nice, fun, and cares about herself? Will they see someone who is serious and intelligent?

“‘Your hair will send significant messages to those around you: what hopes and dreams you have for the world, but more, what hopes and dreams you have for your hair. Pay attention to your hair, because everyone else will.” -Hillary Clinton

Thankfully, good hair doesn’t mean spending hours anymore

I used to spend hours on my hair. Braiding it, straightening it, curling it. But what I have discovered is that naturally beautiful hair is always in style. I look at other women’s hair and what I gravitate to are the styles that are natural. Undamaged and healthy looking hair is always better than what kind of hair do I create that day.

Don’t get me wrong- I spend my fair share of time looking through endless posts on Instagram of beautiful hair do’s. But those do’s aren’t practical for my lifestyle, and I am okay with that. All I really want anymore is hair that feels silky smooth, and does what I want it to do (if I feel like doing it that day) because that’s what makes me feel confident and sends the message I care about.

What products improve the look and feel of hair?

There are so many products out there to bring out the best in the way your hair looks. Unfortunately, those products just produce a quick-fix solution and you become a slave to using it whenever you want great looking hair.  I used to love using serums, hairspray, and even bleaching my hair to make it manageable, but at the end of the day, I end up needing to do more work than it seems worth it because all that work is continuing to damage my hair!

And then there are hair masks. Have you seen the wonderful things that a hair mask can do for your hair? It’s transformative! Unfortunately, it’s not as convenient as the quick-fix hair products and does require time and attention.

I think you know where I am going with this. Yep, we found the perfect solution! Our hair products aren’t just about convenience or damage repair, it’s about both! We’ve actually found the right ingredients to pair with your different types of hair damage (and REPAIR IT!) and it works as conveniently as a leave-in conditioner. I used to use several products every day to get my hair that healthy “look”, and now I use one product a few times a week to actually make my hair healthy, again.

Okay, this isn’t just another pitch. Like, “hey, try our new product that is just like every other product.” This is the real deal, no exceptions. We’ve curated the perfect recipes to combat exact damage types for your hair. Like, really. And everyone has damaged hair…everyone. And everyone is trying to find the right thing to make it not look damaged. So at this point it’s about going that extra mile and repairing hair damage.

We won’t be launching the product on the market officially until next year, but here’s the thing- you can sign up to try it out for free! All you have to do is go to ThePinkPanel and sign up to be a tester. We cannot guarantee that they will choose you, but it doesn’t hurt! And bonus, you will get to try other new products being offered on the market soon, too.
