Working to Train Every Stylist to Identify a Suicide Crisis
We're honored to share our story and mission to #savehairsavelives in Modern Salon and Salon Today magazines.
"Because clients often tell stylists their deepest secrets, stylists may be able to identify changes that might signal a problem. It’s a myth that asking people if they’re feeling suicidal will put it in their head. If the stylist is used to seeing someone regularly, and now they notice this person seems to be in crisis, and is talking more about trouble in their life and how stressed they are, it provides an opportunity not to judge but to show them you care, and to refer them to a place where they can get help," says April Peck.
Save Me From has a mission for suicide prevention. That mission is a three-pronged approach. What's the three-prong approach:
- We create amazing hair care that we donates 10% net income to suicide prevention.
- We advocate through our social media and blog about ways that YOU can learn more about suicide prevention. We've added a QPR virtual class that is taught every 5th Friday of the year at 1 pm PT.
- We train our salon partners on QPR so they can feel aware and feel confident when they see a person in crisis in their chair.
