I was introduced to Save Me From about a year ago and have always had an exceptionally good experience using these hair repair treatments. I am surely someone who is not quick in trusting a skincare/hair care brand, however upon learning about the Fenugen technology used in Save Me From hair treatments and the luxuriousness of the product’s quality and packaging intrigued me. Because of my postpartum hair loss, and the stress I’ve been feeling due to Covid-19, I was definitely drawn towards giving Save Me From a try.

For a quick background, I have had severe postpartum hair loss earlier last year so I have had my share of concerns that come with alarming hair fall! Hair loss postpartum is when unusually high volume of shedding occurs after giving birth, typically around 3-4 months postpartum. For me, not only the hair fall, but the texture too had been visibly degrading. I was not alone. By age 40, approximately 40% experience hair loss in women.

Unique Factors Influencing Hair Loss

In addition to stress and postpartum hair loss, there have recently been reports of hair loss as a possible side effect of getting sick with the covid-19 virus. Many men and women found hair falling out in large clumps after months of recovering from covid-19, a temporary condition where hair excessively begins to shed after a stressful life event known as telogen effluvium. This stress induced hair loss effects both men and women three months after a stressful event. Although this excessive hair loss is temporary, it is a stressful and emotionally distressing time. Fenugreek is a powerful ingredient, rich in polyphenols, that have been shown to help restore hair health, believed to reduce hair fall while helping to stimulate hair growth.

Benefits of Fenugreek Seeds for Hair

Fenugreek seeds, also known as Trigonella foenum-graecum, are a triangular seed originating from Asia and used in Ayurveda for their various medicinal properties. Not only are fenugreek seeds a rich source of proteins, amino acids, fiber, phospholipids, glycolipids, oleic acid, linoleic acid, choline, vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin C, niacin, and iron, but they also contain a unique composition of bioactive plant compounds, including flavonoids, phytosterols and saponins. These plant compounds power the fenugreek benefits for hair which have been known in Asian countries for centuries and shown to:

  • Helps to fight dandruff
  • Helps to promote hair growth and helps reduce hair fall
  • Helps make hair shiny and silky

I had been doing a lot of research on hair care routines and hair masks. Fenugreek hair masks was a topic that I was seeing everywhere. Everybody has been talking about methi seeds for hair because it is said to promote healthy hair, add shine and make your hair smooth. I wanted to try these fenugreek seeds for hair for myself, but I was always intimidated by the process. It looked messy and time consuming but with results like promoting hair growth, adding shine and fighting dandruff, I had to give fenugreek for hair growth a try.

A Creative Experiment: Homemade Fenugreek Hair Mask vs Save Me From

I was tempted to try Save Me From hair treatments that contain 5X more potent fenugreek seeds with their Fenugen technology side-by-side with a DIY fenugreek hair mask to see how the two perform together. In my video, I explained how to prepare a fenugreek hair mask by soaking fenugreek seeds in water overnight.

The next day, if excess waters remains, some people will use fenugreek water for hair growth but I blended the methi seeds into a fine paste, adding 1 or 2 tbsp of coconut oil and mixing it all together.

This fenugreek hair mask has a beautiful, maple scent. The scent of the blended fenugreek seeds are quite relaxing and the texture is quite slimy, which makes the DIY hair mask very messy. Mess aside, I've heard this is a great hair mask for dry hair and the ends of my hair felt extremely dry, lifeless, unruly and frizzy. It

I divided my hair into two sections. On one side I applied the home-made fenugreek mask recipe and on the other, I applied Save Me From Hair Repair products. I then wetted my hair down so that both the fenugreek mixture and the Save Me From Tip to Root Hair Reboot products would apply evenly.

My first impression of the homemade recipe was it’s very messy. As soon as I began putting it on, it was falling off, all over the place and all over the flow. I was a bit turned off by the messy affair. Nevertheless, I was excited to see the results, so I paid special attention to applying it on areas where my hair was the most damaged from midshaft to the ends. It is this area of the hair that needs special attention and is deprived of nourishment and moisturization.

On the other side, I applied Save Me From. Their treatment line that comes in a variety to address several hair damage concerns. Today I will be multi-masking with Save Me From Chemical Conflict to improve my hair’s strength + resistance to breakage. Since I have super oily roots, I’ll also be applying Product Overload to help remove excess oil and detoxify the scalp.

These Fenugen infused hair masks rich in fenugreek seed's plant compounds are very concentrated formulas, so I only need to use a very small amount. A little goes a long way and is best to use on wet hair and damp hands to allow the product to spread further. I start off by applying the product from tip to root, focusing more product on the ends to help reduce the frizz and dryness of split ends while working my way up to the roots. The best part of these products is that if you happen to apply more than required, they penetrate into the layers of the hair just like skin care, so your hair continues to absorb all the goodness throughout the day.

I then tied both sides of my hair up, put on a shower cap and slept with them both in overnight. The next day, I shampooed and conditioned my hair like normal and applied a small portion of Save Me From’s Thermal Obsession. I like to use this as a leave in hair repair moisturizer which also acts as my heat protectant. On days that I’m blow drying or heat styling, I don’t need to apply any addition heat protectant or hair repair oil.

Conclusion: And The Winner Is…

When it came time to compare the results, both sides of my hair felt incredibly soft. If you look closely at the side where I applied the homemade mask, you’ll notice the ends don’t look very soft and even but the side that I applied Save Me From look very tame, more nourished and the ends look more shiny and smooth. As I work my way up on the side with the homemade fenugreek hair mask, my hair definitely still looks frizzy but the side with Save Me From looks much less frizzy, more nourished, shiny and much more manageable. In addition, the side with Save Me From enhanced the beauty of the natural wave in my hair! I then used blow dryer to heat style my hair and added Save Me From Pollution Assault as a final step to smooth any flyaways and add shine.

In my opinion, I was so happy with the results from Save Me From (not to mention how messy the DIY fenugreek hair mask was). What I love about Save Me From the most is that I don’t feel the need to blow dry my hair at all, they are manageable all by themselves! A single use is all it takes to show you the difference! My hair texture felt so much more smoother, healthier and manageable. I not only like to use it as an overnight treatment but also in a variety of other ways such as leave-in, in between washes to freshen up the scalp, heat protectant or post styling.
